Faculty & Students

Meet the accomplished artists, scholars, and creative minds who make FSFA a transformative community

F

Faculty

Our teachers are accomplished artists and scholars who have worked, taught, and lived across continents. They bring breadth of interest, depth of experience, and a genuine commitment to mentorship—creating a space where ideas collide, conversations spark, and boundaries dissolve.

Many work multidisciplinarily, bridging studio practice with contemporary theory. All are recognized leaders in their fields, dedicated to rigorous teaching, bold research, and fostering an environment where creativity thrives.

Academic Excellence

All faculty hold terminal degrees (MFA & PhD) and are practicing scholars and artists with international experience across continents. They bring a multidisciplinary approach, bridging studio practice with contemporary theory.

Teaching Philosophy

Recognized leaders in their fields, our faculty are committed to rigorous teaching and bold research. Through dedicated mentorship, they create collaborative environments that foster spaces where ideas collide and boundaries dissolve.

Experience

With 20+ years of institutional history, our large and deeply experienced faculty teach from cutting-edge contemporary to traditional methods, offering both studio-based and academic instruction.

S

Students

Our students are independent spirits drawn from every corner of the world—small New England towns, sprawling American cities, and cosmopolitan centers across Europe and Asia. They arrive as individuals with unique stories, but quickly become a close-knit community.

What unites them? A passion for art, culture, and the pursuit of an authentic Italian experience. This is more than study abroad—it's transformation.

Academic Opportunities

Programs for undergraduates and graduates include semester, academic year, and one-year certificate options. Post-Baccalaureate and Masters Certificates are available, with credits accepted by a wide range of partner colleges and universities.

Unique Experiences

Students pursue internships at Florence firms and museums, engage in one-on-one Directed Independent Studies with local artists and scholars, participate in language exchanges with Accademia Belle Arti students, and attend on-site classes throughout Florence and Italy.
